Yellow Bellied Sea Snake

Briano was called out to a Yellow – Bellied Sea Snake rescue at Mooloolaba beach recently. The Scientific name for the Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake is – Pelamis Platurus – and they grow up to 1 metre in length. They are the worlds most widespread and truly oceanic snake, their distribution covers most waters in Australia and typically feed on the surface in open seas but are occasional visitors to our coastal zones.

They are a venomous snake, so if you find one on the beach, stand a safe distance away and call Australia Zoo Rescue on 5436 2000.
